Absolute nonsense!

This 'book' and its contents are nothing more than pure fantasy concocted by a Paranormal group that have not done anything and never will do anything to further investigation into the moors murders case.
I have had the great misfortune to have been contacted by this group before this nonsense was published and I was asked to take them seriously. Having spent 50 years living with this case and going over the known facts countless times I can state that this pathetic attempt to gain an insight into more facts and to get into the head of Brady is one of the worst examples of self-publicity and total rubbish I have ever come across.
I have even had cause to contact the Greater Manchester Police about the anguish these people cause to myself and my family (I am the brother of Keith Bennett, the only victim of Brady and Hindley not to have found.) The latest quote I have from the police is 'We all share the same views of the Worsley Paranormal Society and again they have been politely but clearly told where they stand and informed of our views on the lack of legitimacy of their visions/musings/opinions.'

This group of misled and misinformed individuals still trawl the internet claiming, firstly, that they have the support of the police and then they state that they cannot understand why they are not taken seriously! Nobody with any sort of understanding of this case and the details of this case will ever take them seriously, the sooner they take that FACT in the better for all concerned.

A different insight into the Moors Murders

A book which obviously is bothering people ? especially ones who have never even read it yet make a comment. The Secret Key to The Moors Murders is a book that is showing why Ian Brady was influenced by things he read and watched like films. He was living in a time warp and acted out much in a fantasy world he created. By using History and historical people he admired, like Oliver Cromwell, writers and poets and especially the Industrial Revolution,he was able to map the areas to this and create a puzzle field where he buried clues to what this was all about. The writers and Geniuses like James Joyce, W B Yeats, T S Eliot and the surrealism Artists of Paris.. I explain why I am able to see these .. then I have gone deeper into the Occult and Crowley and the areas he visited to see why these were important to him and possible sites for other victims. Its complex and no wonder he has been able to hide behind all of this and keep his game going. Even the names of people he writes to mean more to him, like Cowley and even the name Bennett..

About the Author

Japanese Psychic and Paranormal Phenomena

The title for "Japanese Ghost Stories" is somewhat misleading. In fact, this book is a new edition of the previously published Supernatural and Mysterious Japan: Spirits, Hauntings and Paranormal Phenomena. The only thing different is the title and cover.

There aren't a lot of ghost stories in this book. In fact, "Japanese Ghost Stories" is the type of book one might pick up in a New Age bookstore, right next to "Forbidden Secrets of the Pyramids" and "How to See Leprechauns." The author, Catrien Ross, is a self-styled Scottish shamen who runs QRQ in Nishi Hachioji Japan, a "healing center" for "healers, alternative thinkers and futurists."

With that in mind, "Japanese Ghost Stories" is a decent little book on with some good information on psychic phenomena in modern Japan as well as some nice ghost stories and haunted places. The book is heavier on psychics than ghosts, with quite a bit on mystic healing which is Ross's own forte. She goes into detail on psychic photographs, ki energy research and feng shui. As a firm believer, there is no skepticism in any of these stories, and Ross presents every story as if it were accepted fact.

Which is not to say that there are no ghosts to be found here. The "Strange but True" chapter contains some nice weirdness, such as the grave of Jesus Christ in northern Aomori prefecture and the living mummies of Gassan mountain. My personal favorite sections were "Modern Day Hauntings" and "Edo Era Tales." Unfortunately, at only 160 Ross doesn't have enough space to go into any detail, and tends to rapid-fire stories at you in quick succession. One page might have four or five haunted places with just the names and a one-sentence synopsis given.

While I had heard many of the stories before, Ross is well-informed and added some new bits and some new stories, as well as some haunted places to check out. Her take on the famous "Tokaido Yotsuya Kaidan" was very nice, with some history of the tale and how it was adapted by various media.

Overall, not a great book on the Japanese supernatural, but not terrible either. Anyone interested in weird phenomena and strange happiness will enjoy it, but anyone looking for a book on actual Japanese ghost stories will come away disappointed.

Can't judge this book by its title

Before you decide to order this book, you should be aware that it is NOT what the title describes, a collection of Japanese ghost stories. It is rather an examination of Japan’s “supernatural tapestry.” At the end of the book there is an eleven-page collection of nine “Scenes of Ghosts and Demons,” followed by two stories that I assume are very lengthy in their original form, summarized here in sixteen pages.

As the previous review mentioned, there are very few actual stories in this book. Only the last 25 pages (out of 158) resemble what I expected the entire book to be. Huge disappointment.

Finally a black man gets it. I could not stop reading this book. Mr porter backs up his statements with fact. All Black women should consider this book a personal bible. Black women need to understand to overcome sexism and racism we must first love ourselves, fight for ourselves and depend on each other.

Every Black woman living in this country needs to have this book in their possession immediately! This book will indeed explain everything you wanted to know about life but were afraid to ask a man. Thank you Michael Porter for laying out the facts as raw as you did. This is a book that will save your life and enlighten you to progress independently. I couldn't put it down! It's an easy read but it's straight up with no chaser! I highly recommend this book to my sistas out there who want to know the real deal!

Finally, some of our Black men get it

regarding the plight of Black women in America today. Today, we see far more female heads of household than ever before. The whole popular culture attacks Black/biracial Black women on a daily basis and Black/mixed Black women are the fastest growing prison population.

This book talks about what people have said in private about Black womens' worsening plight. I hope Americans get a chance to read this book and to meditate, then do something about it because we are losing the fight in the Black community. If this goes on, the community would be only a memory.

Helped me pass the PE!

Great introductory text for a non-IE. Very broad, covers most of the range of the IE topic. I used it as a study aid when studying for the PE exam; I passed, and I credit much of that to this book.

Good: Covers lots of stuff that was on the exam, including:

-Industrial processes (metal cutting, Taylor tool life eqn)

-Facility layout

-Facility location (traveling salesman, milk run algorithms)

-Operations planning (forecasting demand, EOQ, exponential forecasting)

-Project management (PERT, crashing, forward/backward pass)

-Good introduction to stats and probs in the appendix

Not-so-good:

-Lots of wasted space on management theory (get a business text instead)

-Computer stuff is out-of-date

It does not go into substantial detail, so it is (as titled) an introductory text. Still, I highly recommend it to the non-IE.

Grade 5-8 -When her father and brother are taken by the Taliban and her mother and baby brother are killed in a bombing raid during the Afghan war in October 2001, Najmah begins an arduous journey across the border to Peshawar, Pakistan. There, she meets up with an American woman, Nusrat, who has been conducting a school for refugee children while she waits for her husband, Faiz, who has returned to his native country to open medical clinics. For most of the story, the narration alternates between Najmah and Nusrat, allowing readers to see the war's effect on both of their lives. Only when they meet can they come to terms with their losses and move on. However, readers may feel unsatisfied with the ending. Having cared for the characters and been involved in their lives, they will want to know what happens to them. The use of an American allows the author to provide a clearer description of this unfamiliar world, but because Nusrat is a grown woman, her concerns may be of less interest to readers than those of Najmah, an enterprising and enormously courageous girl. Still, Staples brings the world of the refugee camp to life. When her mother and baby brother die in an American air raid, she stops speaking, and, disguised as a boy, makes a perilous journey to a refugee camp in Pakistan. In a parallel narrative, Nusrat (her American name was Elaine), who converted to Islam when she met Faiz in New York, has set up a rough school for the refugees. She has had no news of Faiz, her husband, since he left to establish a clinic in the north. The two stories come together when Najmah and Nusrat meet in the camp, where they wait in anguish for news of the people they love. Staples weaves a lot of history and politics into her story (including information about the Taliban's suppression of women), and she includes a map, a glossary, and brief background notes to give even more context. But as with her Newbery Honor Book, Shabanu (1989), it's the personal story, not the history, that compels as it takes readers beyond the modern stereotypes of Muslims as fundamentalist fanatics. Theories of aesthetics- scholarship on the understanding and appreciation of art

I know the first edition of this book. In that edition Beardsley maintains he wanted to show the independent value of the aesthetic realm and therefore worked in that direction. In the present revised edition he also tries to bring essays which connects artistic work with other realms of human activity.

Anyone who has interest in the Theory of Art should have this volume in their library. And this because it does give a good sampling of the best scholarship on the subject.

Beardsley in the new preface to the work talks about a problem he more or less skimmed over in the first edition, ' defining art' . He cites one essay that of M. Weitz who uses Wittgenstein's family resemblance concept to say that it is mistaken to define Art as one set of concepts only when there are ' overlapping concepts' between different realms.

But of course making a definition of Art is only one problem of Aesthetics. ( Some by the way might answer in the famous Louie Armstrong style when asked to give a definition of 'jazz' Satchmo said ' If you got to ask, you don't know what it is' . This reminds me in a way of certain definitions of literature such as Kafka's an' axe to break up the frozen- sea within' .
