An extremely important book

Because this book doesn't follow main stream thinking, it has been allowed to go out of print. The book is about the prehistory of man and the Annanuki or Watchers. However, it is now available from The Golden Age Project, which has republished it for under $40. Anyone doing research using cuniform script or research on Eden or the Giants of Old will find this a valuable resource. Highly recommended. [...]

One of the most important books ever written!

This book details the results of an expedition in Lebanon, of a site called Kharsag. There is monumental evidence that the Hebraic religions, and the Biblical story of the Garden of Eden, all hail back to this small area where agriculture began in the Middle East over 11,000 years ago. The valley of Kharsag is the ONLY proposed location for the Garden of Eden which matches the Biblical description perfectly, and the ONLY place with written records dating back 11,000 years which clear up the history of the Hebrews quite handily. These people had a proto-Hebraic written language which they used to record a vast number of events. Read sections of the Kharsag Epic somewhere online, and read some of the interpretations. These texts are very clear and easy to translate compared to other ancient texts, because there is no kind of mythology or any such thing, just a recording of events, with descriptions of various people and groups.

These early people had a farming community based on a hierarchy, of real people doing real jobs. However, the "lower class" worshiped the management and specialized classes of workers as Gods. The organization of this society also is the source of stories of angels, elohim, etc. For some reason this information has been glossed over for many years. There is an ancient Akkadian story that tells of those working on the "Great Watercourse" in the Garden of Eden revolting against their overseer, who in Akkadian myths is called Enlil, and out of this confrontation came the creation of a "salaried worker" for the first time.

Nobody could make this stuff up, this is the source of the Judaic religions, and this book is the only source I know of for information about this archeological find. Sadly, the Lebanese government has not declared this a protected heritage site, and it is being developed and promoted for tourism. Anyone interested in this should look into the campaign to get the original Garden of Eden (for which there is no other reasonable site) declared a heritage site.

Really good recipes, directions could be a bit better for beginners

I bought this at the same time I bought the Instantpot on Amazon. The first recipe I tried was the Perfected Pot Roast which was excellent. The one problem I had was in step #4 he stated to perform a quick release, in which I did and ended up with juices spewing out the top of my pressure cooker all over my walls and cupboards. I called customer service for the Instantpot and was told never to do a quick release with meats!! (I guess I also should have read the manual). I was terrified to use the quick release method again until I read some posts on a pressure cooking forum on how to do it correctly. I have tried quite a few of his other recipes with no problems and they have all been excellent!

UPDATE: I now have tried many of Bob's recipes in this book and have to say they are amazing!! They are easy to follow and come out perfect every time. My favorites so far; German Pot Roast, Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki and the Perfected Pulled Pork. Yum!!

The best pressure cooker book you can buy!

I purchased mine when QVC released them as I have his 1st pressure cooker book and I knew how much I loved it. The second book by him is an excellent follow up. So many to pick from with full color pictures. I have tried many pressure cooker books and I can say that without hesitation...nothing comes close ...not even marginally close...to this one. Easy ingredients combined with excellent instructions and awesome pictures makes this book sit on the top shelf in my house.

Great Food for Regular People!

I've read other pressure cooker books and found them to be full of what I consider strange food. This one is full of regular recipes for regular people. Not boring, but food most people will be happy to cook and eat. You won't have to buy a bunch of specialty ingredients that you'll only use once. The recipes are simple, and delicious. A great book!

Good Conceptual Overview of Eliminating Waste in Producing

Unlike most cost-reduction books, Lean Thinking has a strong conceptual underpinning for thinking about improving your operations. The authors move beyond the narrowest application of the lean manufacturing model (the original Toyota system) to explore key concepts like value (what do the customers want? as opposed to what do they choose from the limited options we give them?), flow (continuous production is faster and more efficient than batch processing), pull (letting immediate demand determine what is produced rather than sales projections), and perfection (thinking through the ideal way to do things, rather than just improving from where you are today somewhat). Providing this conceptual framework makes it easier to understand the benefits of operating a lean enterprise. People who did not understand the message in Direct from Dell would find Lean Thinking to be a useful framework.
One of the strengths of this book is that it is deliberately full of examples of companies which took traditional methods in existing plants and converted them into lean operations. I know of no other set of case histories half as useful on this subject.
The key limitation of this book is that most people new to lean manufacturing would not be able to implement solely using the book as a guide. The conceptual perspective, while being uniquely valuable, leaves the inexperienced person with few guideposts. Some of the key requirements are simply described as "get the knowledge" and so forth. As a follow-up, I suggest that the authors team with those who have done this work and write a hands-on guide. Much more benefit will follow.
If you are interested in understanding how a new business model of how to provide your products and/or services might work and what the benefits might be, Lean Thinking is a good place to start. Most executives and operations managers have never seriously considered going from batch to cell-based production. This will open your eyes to the potential.
Based on my many years of experience with improving business processes, you will actually need to go visit some of the companies cited to fully understand the issues and what must be done. I know that visits to Pratt & Whitney can be arranged and are very insightful. You might try to start with that one.
One area may turn you off. The cited examples moved forward pretty ruthlessly. That may not be your cup of tea. You may be reminded of some of the early reengineering. My own experience is that such changes can be done in a more positive and constructive way. Stay open to that possibility as you read the cases. They basically all use command and control to create more flexibility. You can also use other methods like those encouraged in The Soul at Work and The Living Company to create these kinds of results. Keep that in mind.
I recommend that everyone who uses batch and sequential operation methods read this book. It will open your eyes to great potential to grow faster and more profitably.

Good Book for Introduction to Lean!..need application book

This book was definately informative. Lean thinking is revolutionary in approach. The text reviews a lot of success stories. Would like to see another text that gets more into application, answering questions like...How to set up a kanban system..or How to accomplish quick changeover of machinery.
Would recommend this book as a good starting point!

I was fortunate enough to participate in the Pratt & Whitney lean transformation described in Lean Thinking.

While it is not a "how to" book, it does a good job of describing the lean initiatives undertaken.

About the Author
Claudia Sagona is a Senior Fellow in Archaeology at the University of Melbourne. She is the author of several books on Malta, including Looking for Mithra in Malta (2009), and the editor of books including Ceramics of the Phoenician-Punic World (2011) and Beyond the Homeland: Markers in Phoenician Chronology (2008). Her articles have appeared in academic journals including Anatolian Studies, Anatolia Antiqua, Ancient Near Eastern Studies, Mediterranean Archaeology and the Oxford Journal of Archaeology. In recognition of her contribution to Malta, she was made an honorary member of the National Order of Merit of Malta in 2007.

Jeremy Spencer has definitely knocked this out of the park

Jeremy Spencer has written an in your face autobiography that he has used his wicked sense of humor to tell his tale from a drug addled teenager to sober upper teen and twenty something year old to the total chaos that surrounded his life with the formation with one of the fastest rising rock bands of the past 20 years. Jeremy also delves into the reality of many struggling musicians and draws to light the misconceptions of self help groups where they say they can help you but sometimes there are even stigmas there as well, when it comes to alcohol abuse and being in a band. Jeremy's quick wit and humor has made this tale not only about his trail to sobriety but the reality of many musicians that travel across the country on a day to day basis in order to survive. Jeremy Spencer has made a book that was fun to read but also well thought out with his structure of going back and forth between his early years as a child growing up in Indiana to LA to Nashville and then back to LA then onto Las Vegas. This is definitely one of the most intriguing autobiographies I have read in a long time, I would compare this to the Heroin Diaries by Nikki Sixx and also 7 Deadly Sins by Corey Taylor. I would you suggest that you give it a try and not be surprised when you are laughing your way through this book as well as awed since he isn't dead yet. Jeremy definitely has a way with words.

addiction with a dash of humor

I'm a fan of rock bios and this one is now on the list of my favorites! Jeremy's unique sense of humor combined with pop culture references along with the use of grandma Heyde's sayings ( blind sow finding an acorn is by far my personal fave) helps to break up the downer that is the subject of addiction. There were many times in the book I found myself not liking the person that Jeremy was ( and I'm sure he felt the same way while writing it out) however, his determination to succeed both personally and professionally made me admire him. Rock on and stay strong!

my essay i mean REVIEW

The fist time I heard that Jeremy was going to be releasing his book I couldn’t contain my excitement. I have been a huge fan of five finger death punch for so long but always having a soft spot for Jeremy. Of course it was absolute torture waiting for the official release date, and when it did finally come round, I had to wait almost 2 weeks to get my copy. It was definitely worth the wait. I don’t often get excited about books and it has been years since I read a book from start to finish. I honestly couldn’t put it down! I spent my Sunday morning curled up on the sofa with death punch’d in my hands just reading. It had me encapsulated right from the very first word (this doesn’t happen very often), I got so completely lost in the book, that it actually allowed me to mentally visualise the words that I was reading. I just want to thank Jeremy for allowing not only myself but the entire world to be able to see a small glimpse of what his life was like, from a very young age, to more troublesome times and somewhat disgusting details (you’ll know what I mean when you read it) as he got older. The things that this man has gone through are somewhat unbelievable in places, but for him to be able to come out fighting on the other side is just beyond words. He truly is an incredible man and he should be extremely proud of himself, because we (the fans) certainly are!
