Pretty much everyone I watch on YouTube is a vlogger, and I've always wanted to give it a try myself. I've done a few videos, but I was mostly just trying on my own. How To Vlog is a really great breakdown of different methods and important concepts to do with vlogging. The book is very introductory and covers all the basics you'd need to know, including the right kind of equipment to have and how to act in front of the camera to appeal to an audience. There's also information about editing, which is a big part of the process. I found this book very helpful!

Great book written by the author about Vlogging! I have always been curious about people who owns and make their own videos and post on Youtube to attract traffics. This book gives nice details of how the process goes, and what you need to get started! I love the parts that talks about how one should sound like in the video to best communicate with the audiences. Great explanations, it solves the myth that these bloggers just talk like that in real life.

I am a huge Tartar Sauce/Grumpy Cat fan so naturally I had to have this book. It is basically a compilation of Grumpy Cat memes that you see all over the internet with a few basic activities such as cross word puzzles and connect the dots. The book also features a couple images of Pokey, Dog and Cactus. If I would have had the opportunity to flip through the book at a book store, I would not have purchased the book simply for the lack of diversity in the images. There are tons of images out there of Grumpy Cat, but this book features the same two on every other page, but with a different caption. I was hoping for a more diverse collection of images.

I didn't know what to expect when I ordered this, but I'm a fan of Grumpy Cat so I figured why not. Well, it had me roaring with laughter as I flipped through the pages. I shared it with others and got the same reaction. A cute book with great Grumpy Cat photos and sayings. If you are having a bad day, flip through this and you will no doubt cheer up. Highly recommeded, and I say that with a grumpy smile on my face!!!

Bjorklund draws on the colorful stories of these autobiographers to show how their historical epoch shapes their understandings of self.

These studies of autobiographical writing approach the topic from different angles. Bjorklund, a social scientist, analyzes the genre from the perspectives of psychology, sociology, and ethnic studies. She has selected five representative titles from each decade starting from 1800 and examines them from in terms of how the concept of self has changed in U.S. history and society. She divides the book into four sections: religious autobiographies, the works of business or "self-made" individuals, the psychological aspects of life-writing, and ways in which society and the environment have molded lives. Bjorklund studies both famous and obscure writers, and her clear prose style and copious quotations provide insight into the many aspects of the changing American self. Olney is a professor of literature (Louisiana State Univ.) and is therefore more interested in how certain authors have made narrative out of memory. He focuses on three landmark autobiographers: St. Augustine, one of the first life-writers, who used his life to illustrate religious doctrines; Rousseau, who was only interested in how his own feelings and thoughts made an impact on society; and Samuel Beckett, who invested his novels and plays with his own, ultimately hopeless quest to understand his life story. Olney's analyses are complex, but his exhaustive readings of these three main authors illuminate their methods and struggles. From the persepctive of the Mission Field

Ajith Frenando's commentary immediately struck me as arising from the persepctive of one working every day in the Mission Field. He clearly understands that Acts witnesses to the power of the Spirit who equip God's people for witness and service. One can easily see that the author believes in the gifts of the Spirit and the fact that these did not disappear with the Apostolic age. Fernando's commentary has many unique features, notably the "life application" and "bridging" sections that try to connect the witness of the Book of Acts to our Christian walk in the 21st century. Missing is the original Greek along/under the English (NIV) translation. Though not a critical deficiency, it would have been useful to have the Greek nearby as a reference. Having a good study bible along side will provide additional cross references to aid in understanding the text. Having taught the Book of Acts for a number of years, and having referred to numerous other commentaries, it is refreshing to read a commentary which believes that what the early church experienced of the Spirit's power and equipping we are to also experience today. Along with all this, his scholarship shines through. A must-have in a bible teacher's library.

An Evangelist's Commentary on Acts

This commentary is a unique blend of interaction with scholarly argument and guidance for the contemporary church based on Acts. The Asian identity of Fernando highlights some aspects of the Christian life, seen in Acts, that are sometimes overlooked by Western commentators. For example, his comments on the Christian experience of suffering in his comments on the martyrdom of Stephen are challenging to the Western view. Rather than the Western approach to escape from suffering, Fernando advises embracing a Christian theology of suffering.

The number of commentaries that have academic credibility as well as a credible, powerful influence on ministry is very small. Fernando has done the church the gift of adding one more to this list.

Good insights from a "3rd world" prospective.

I was glad to see the editors chose Ajith Fernando as the author of the study of Acts. It is good to read a perspective of the Early Church from someone who is not from North America or Eurpoe. Ajith is from and ministers in Sri Lanka. His illustration concerning prejudice in the Acts, Chapter 10, was enlightening.
